Sour Flour is a project I completed as part of the 'Become an AI Product Designer' course through Maven; a 5-week intensive that covered AI theory, system prompting and vibe coding. The brief was to create an original AI-powered product from scratch. Finding gluten-free restaurant options is tedious and unreliable. You're stuck scrolling through websites, reviews, and dodgy menu photos just to plan a night out. Sour Flour gamifies this experience by playing on the gamble of eating out with dietary restrictions, instantly evaluating restaurants based on their gluten-free options. Using advanced web scraping through Playwright and OpenAI GPT-4 Vision, it extracts restaurant data to provide trustworthy dietary insights. Sour Flour targets adults who have coeliac disease or gluten intolerance themselves, or are dining out with someone who does. These people want to plan inclusive dining experiences but feel overwhelmed trying to find safe restaurant options or understand gluten restrictions. They often rely on the person with dietary restrictions to do all the investigation, or don't bother at all. Be your gluten-free friend's hero with Sour Flour!
